I definitely recommend checking this one out if you missed this showing.

Joe vs. the Volcano
Yesterday's movie was Joe vs. the Volcano, which Vince picked. Many of us scoffed, but it was surprisingly great: deeply weird and filled with superb little scenes like this one:

Superman
Whoops, forgot to post this before the movie. Our most recent film was Richard Donner's Superman, from 1978. It was filled with action, romance, suspense, and all that stuff, but I think we all agreed that this was the best part:
P.S. Today is both Mark Hamill and Christopher Reeve's birthday. A very nostalgic birthday indeed!

Singles
This week's pick is Jess's, Singles. Released in 1992, it's one of our freshest, if not the freshest pick to date.
NMN regulars joining us (on the big screen) this Sunday - Matt Dillon, Eric Stoltz and Tom Skerritt.
Little known trivia - this movie takes place in Seattle, Washington.
Is this really our first Cameron Crowe film? We haven't done "Say Anything?" THAT'S CRAZY.
Best thing to ever happen at the Ellensburg Rodeo:

9/9/2012: Firestarter
Tomorrow's film is Meghan's pick, Stephen King's Firestarter (or should that be Stephen King's Firestarter? It was filed under 'F,' so I guess I'll go with the former).
The DVD I got is actually a two-movie set, including the decidedly non-nostalgic sequel/miniseries, Firestarter 2: Rekindled (guess they had to bump up its retail numbers somehow).

Man, I can't believe they couldn't get Drew Barrymore for that one!

The Origins of Nostalgic Movie Night
Most of us know that the first Nostalgic Movie Night movie was a somewhat impromptu viewing of The Monster Squad.
What I didn't remember was that we started this whole train a-rolling in June of 2008. Over four years ago! Craziness.
Rick sent around a spreadsheet in those early days with a bunch of potential suggestions, and we haven't even watched all of those yet. Here are a few from Rick's list that (I'm pretty sure) we haven't seen:
Yeah, I don't think we're going to run out of movies any time soon. Or, to paraphrase a nostalgic movie we have watched, we're gonna need a bigger jar.
I plan to do a post soon with every movie we've watched to date, but that will take a while.
